We have been writing lots of poems this term using different formats. Check out some of our work.

Signs Of Spring

Spring is warm
and flowers bloom
The birds sing a beautiful tune
Everything doesn’t zoom
It’s not the start of June!

Time to watch flowers grow
And start September!
Everything isn’t snow
Some things are major!
By Aiden

Wet weather approaches
Icicles start to freeze
Numb fingers start to appear
Time for a cup of tea
Encrusted with frost
Rain starts to release

In the big, dark woods
There’s a big, dark mansion
In the big dark mansion
There’s a big, dark room
In the big, dark room
There’s a big, dark closet
In the big, dark closet
There’s a big, dark box
In the big, dark box
THERE’S A MOUSE!!!!!

Sadness
Sadness is the colour of Blue.
Sadness tastes like a blueberry.
Sadness smells like burnt pumpkin.
Sadness looks like a dull sky.
Sadness sounds like people crying.
Sadness feels like a wet ground.
By Drew.

Winter
Wet, windy and white
Icy iceberg
Nice and warm inside
Tasty hot chocolate
Earmuffs warm and toastie
Relaxing by the roaring fire

On Thursday 15 students from Room 1 took part in the winter tournament. The sports played were hockey, netball, rugby and football. Read what George, Gabbie and Sophie have to say about it.

4th of August 2017

Yesterday (Thursday) some people in the senior Area had winter sports. I had soccer/football and some of my friends were also in soccer too (we came third in our pool). When I was away at winter sports yesterday other people in my class were making some ei’s, when I got back I quickly made one too. On Tuesday our class had Mark Reid and if you don’t know who he is, he comes to our school and teaches us sporty games. We did a soccer/netball game on Tuesday =) By Gabbie

This week on Thursday, yesterday. it was the winter tournament and the sport I was playing was the best one of all soccer. We had two wins and two of them lost the first match was super hard but it was fun. I was defender through the whole time we were there, but I’m not bragging but I did really good as defense. It was hard I took some beating to the legs but I still defended it was so much fun but we did not win. Well that was all for winter sport.

Winter Tournament!!!
Yesterday it was winter tournament. I was in the netball team we did really well. We won all our games which got us into the semi final. We knew it was going to be a really, hard and we had done really well but we lost by one. We had to play over time because it was a draw and it was until one team got 2 goals. We all started to make silly mistakes and drop the ball. I’m still really happy with how the team played and I think that it was more about having fun and enjoying ourselves. In the end we got 3rd overall. So I’m really pleased with the team's effort.

Cook Island Language Week.
Kia Orana
This week is Cook Island Language Week and we have been learning about life in that lovely country.
As part of our study some of the class made an 'ei which is a traditional headress made from flowers.
