On Thursday 27th June Room 1 visited the Arowhenua Marae. After we were welcomed onto the marae Sophie, Caitlin and Taylor said their mihi mihi. We all did the hongi. Our first activity was kapa haka where we learnt to sing and do actions to Flick the Little Fire Engine, but in Moāri. Next we went to flax (harakeke) weaving. We made a flower which was quite tricky. Then it was time for lunch. After lunch we went and did drawings of native plants using indian ink. Here are some photos of what we did when we were drawing.
We are focusing on descriptive writing at the moment. This week we wrote descriptions about two characters from the class story we have just finished reading. We wrote about Timothy and Phillip from The Cay.
Next week we are going to write about Archie so he came for a visit today so we could get to know him a little better. He chased the ball and ran around the playground like a little hairy bullet. We had a great time and so did he!
